1544406352786905.pngWe like to share an exciting news that Dr. Hao Chen, a mass spectrometrist and a highly active member of our society has been nominated as a candidate for the 2019 to 2021 to run for Member at Large for Publications on the ASMS Board of Directors. We congratulate Hao on this well-deserved recognition for his outstanding service and leadership in the MS community. 


DrHao Chen was a professor at Ohio University and is currently a professor in the Department of Chemistry & Environmental Scienceat New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, NJ. Dr. Chen conducts research on organic and biological mass spectrometry for bioanalysis and instrument development such as new LC/MS interface and new atmospheric pressure ion dissociation device. In particular, his research interest focuses on the use of mass spectrometry to study mechanisms of electrochemical and organometallic reactions and the use of electrochemical mass spectrometry for elucidation of disulfide-bond containing protein structures and conformations. So far, Dr. Chen has published 104 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 10 patents. His research awards include American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) Research Award, NSF Early Career Award, Ron Hites Outstanding Publication Award and Ohio University Presidential Research Scholar.


Dr. Chen has been actively involved in the scientific communitiesand an active member of the Chinese American Society for Mass Spectrometry (CASMS). He organized and chaired sessions/workshops on the application of mass spectrometry at several ASMS Conferences and served on the program committee. He organized 2017 Midwest Universities Analytical Chemistry Conference (MUACC). He has participated as an ad hoc reviewer or chair for NSF and NASA grant review committees and has served on the Editorial Board of JASMS.  He also serves as a reviewer for various scientific journals and won a JASMS reviewer award.
